Break Fake Pearl Necklaces and Wire Them Onto Branches – Try Not to Obsess Over This Look

Step 4: Cut the wire pieces. Using your wire cutters, cut individual pieces of wire to approximately 6 inches in length. Cut a generous number of pieces ahead of time — having 30 to 50 pieces ready before you begin the next step will allow you to work much more efficiently without stopping to cut wire repeatedly. Either gold or silver wire works beautifully; choose whichever complements the tone of your pearls and the overall aesthetic you are going for.

Step 5: Thread and secure each pearl. Take one piece of wire and thread a single pearl onto its center. Fold the wire in half so that the pearl sits at the bend, then twist the two wire ends tightly together below the pearl, creating a secure wire stem. Twist the wire firmly for at least 3 or 4 rotations to ensure the pearl is held in place securely and will not slip or rattle loose. Repeat this process for as many pearls as you plan to use across all your branches.

Step 6: Attach the pearls to the branches. Take each pearl-on-wire and wrap the twisted wire stem around a section of branch, twisting it firmly in place to secure it. Scatter the pearls across the branches in a loose, organic arrangement — vary the height, positioning, and spacing intentionally to create the impression of natural, effortless placement rather than something rigidly uniform. Placing more pearls near the tips and ends of the smaller branches, where they catch the light most effectively, tends to produce the most elegant result.

Step 7: Add extra security with hot glue. Once you are satisfied with the placement and arrangement of all your pearls, go back over the piece with a hot glue gun. Apply a small dab of hot glue at the point where each wire meets the branch to lock everything firmly in place. This step ensures that the pearls will not shift, spin, or gradually work themselves loose over time, particularly if the piece will be moved or handled occasionally. Allow the glue to cool and set completely before touching or repositioning the branches.
