1. Structural Reinforcement
The dobby border uses a tighter, flat-woven structure — very different from the fluffy terry loops that make up the body of the towel. This denser weave strengthens the edges of the towel, which are the areas most prone to fraying, stretching, and wear over time. Without this reinforcement, towel edges would unravel much faster after repeated washing and use.
