I m 91 and I Still Wear Skirts and Heels

Her message goes far beyond clothing. She believes that people spend too much of their lives worrying about what others think. When you’re young, you may worry about whether your clothes are fashionable, whether your appearance is perfect, or whether someone will judge you.

But with time comes perspective.

Life moves quickly, and eventually you realize that many of those worries weren’t worth the time and energy you gave them.

That’s why she encourages younger women not to wait for permission to enjoy their lives. Wear the clothes you love. Try the hairstyle you’ve always wanted. Take the trip. Laugh loudly. Take pictures. Dance when you feel like dancing.

Most importantly, don’t spend your entire life trying to fit into someone else’s idea of what a woman should be.

At 91, she isn’t trying to look younger. She simply wants to look like herself.

And perhaps that’s the most powerful lesson of all: getting older may change your body, your routines, and your circumstances, but it doesn’t have to take away your personality, confidence, or joy.

So if she wants to put on a beautiful skirt and a pair of heels, why should she stop now?

After 91 years of becoming comfortable with who she is, she has no intention of hiding that person.
