Man Goes Viral After Extreme Head Lice Infestation Leaves People Shocked
A disturbing video showing a man suffering from an extremely severe head-lice infestation has gone viral online, leaving viewers shocked by the sheer number of insects visible around his hair and neck.
The footage reportedly shows a tricycle driver in the Philippines whose infestation had apparently been left untreated for a significant period of time. Lice could be seen moving through his hair and across the back of his neck and clothing.
The images were difficult for many people to watch, but the video was reportedly shared with the intention of raising awareness about the importance of treating head lice rather than simply shocking viewers.
A severe infestation
Head lice are tiny parasitic insects that live close to the scalp and feed on blood. Although lice infestations are common and generally treatable, failing to address them can allow the insects to multiply rapidly.

Why can lice become so numerous?
A female head louse can lay eggs, commonly called nits, close to the base of the hair.
If an infestation is not treated, new lice can continue developing and reproducing, allowing the population to increase.
This is why discovering a few live lice should not be ignored. Treating the infestation early can prevent it from becoming much more difficult to manage.
The viral video appears to demonstrate what can happen when a problem is allowed to progress for a long time without appropriate treatment.
