Wash worn clothing, blankets, and towels at a minimum of 60°C.
Alternatively, you can place clothing in the tumble dryer on a high heat setting for 10 to 15 minutes—the dry heat reliably kills ticks.
Regularly wash pet bedding and blankets.
Vacuum thoroughly: Thoroughly vacuum carpets, gaps in floorboards, baseboards, upholstered furniture, and your pets’ favorite spots. Dispose of the vacuum bag directly in the outdoor trash afterward (or freeze it first).
Check pets and people: Thoroughly examine all family members and pets for additional ticks, paying special attention to warm areas with thin skin (backs of the knees, groin area, armpits, behind the ears, and the scalp). Prevention: How to keep ticks out of your home
