The first changes in behavior
The first alterations were subtle and difficult to detect. Safran stopped eating, which was unusual for her. At night, it would come out of its terrarium and settle along its owner’s body: head near shoulder, tail at ankles. At times, he would curl gently around his waist and remain motionless, as if he were measuring each of his ribs.
During the day, the snake chose the cold floor next to the bed, precisely where the young woman stepped barefoot, and remained there for hours. He barely moved the tip of his tail while keeping his gaze fixed on his owner’s chest, watching the rise and fall of his breathing.
